Income Generation Program

To alleviate poverty and to promote self-sufficiency, Atzin provides technical support for small businesses. Women weavers receive cash in hand for finely woven palm baskets as members of the group, Zoyatl. These women improve the quality and designs of their sturdy baskets while expanding into new markets and simultaneously conserving a centuries-old art form.  Promoters run and own their own store where villagers can buy fair price household items.  Other women sew patchwork quilts from donated material in a shared workshop, paying close attention to quality, creativity and sales, and are learning to make school uniforms.
